New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been summoned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) who are probing the Gujarat riots 2002 case.
The petition was filed by Zakia Jaffery, widow of Congress MP Ehsan Jaffery who was killed during the riots.
Tanveer Jaffery, son Ehsan Jaffery who was killed along with 40 others on February 2002 talked exclusively to CNN-IBN.
He said that the petition filed by his mother Zakia Jaffery was a step to eventually file an FIR against Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for his involvement in the Gujarat riot case of 2002.
"This is a step to file an FIR against Modi. Until an FIR is filed you cannot say where the investigation will lead to," he said.
He also said that the information included the entire incidents of the riot and not only of the Gulburg Society incident.
"This will help open up other cases too," he said.
When asked about his mother's emotions at the moment, Tanveer said: "For my mother it is an everyday struggle. Even now if you meet her, she will narrate the entire incident, who was doing what, in detail. This is the only thing that she thinks half of her time. We have approached the court with proper documents."
More than 40 Muslim residents of Ahmedabad's Gulberg Housing Society were killed on February 28, 2002.
