Weekend Blurb: Music, art, food

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: It is the time of the week again when we try and unwind. So here is your weekend warrior to fight all the weekend fatigue. So lay that favourite tune, sink into some happening art and chill out with some eating.

Tune In: Rageshwari's seductive tunes

Were you wondering where that voice had been lost for six years?

It was just struggling to come out. Yes, singer-actress Rageshwari’s seductive tone is back in action after an unfortunate spell of Bell’s palsy, which left the side of her face paralised and vocals slurry.

However, life is about coming back and that is what she has done with the help of Trilok Singh Loomba’s lyrics on her latest album Sagari Rayn.

From love ballads like Kadmon ke nishan to her playful rendition of Mast qalandar, she has put together a piece of work that even at its most irritating points, is tolerable.

It does get a bit yuppy in the later tracks, but when its priced at Rs 95 and that too with a copy of the video thrown in, it sure will not pinch you.

State of the Art: Mythology recreated

If you are checking out artist Madhavi Parekh's works this weekend, you need to notice the technique in which the works have been done.

She has applied the technique of reverse painting on acrylic. However, it is just about the topmost layer first. In her Durga painting for instance, Parekh painted the lips first and the white background last.

Madhavi was at her inventive best in the show with vibrant colours where Goddesses, insects, toys or flying horses all come together to give some kind of perspective to her personal mythologies.

And adding some more life to the show were the sculptures made from bamboo baskets, winnowers and ropes like bright Totem poles.

Foodipedia: Meaty delights
