Murshidabad: In a shocking incident in West Bengal, several workers of the Congress party, led by Union Minister and party MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, went on a rampage at Murshidabad.
The Congress MP was seen cheering the mob of party workers as they ransacked the house of the District Magistrate. The Union Minister had led the Congress workers to the office of the DM to submit a representation.
The representation was pertaining to the demand for justice for a Congress worker who allegedly died in police custody on January 7.
Angry over the incident, the Congress workers ransacked the DM's office after they discovered that the latter wasn't present. His car was vandalised and his house ransacked as well.
Reacting to the incident, Chowdhary told CNN-IBN, "There is no such incident like vandalism as projected by media...Congress workers protested on custodial death."
