Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has ordered a CBI probe into death of three women at a government shelter for the mentally ill in Gurap. This came after it found the CID probe into the case to be unsatisfactory.
The court has ordered compensation to be given to the families of the deceased women. One body was found near the government funded shelter on the July 11, 2012. Two other bodies were found later. Eleven people were arrested in the case.
It later came to light that mentally ill women at the shelter were allegedly being sexually assaulted and exploited.
