What is Bush's new strategy in Iraq?

Atlanta: It was the talk of the Sunday talk shows – US President George Bush’s expected announcement this week of his new plan for Iraq.

The new speaker of the house wasted no time getting her message out: If the President wanted more money to send more troops to Iraq, she and others in Congress would want to talk about it first.

“I'm saying two things. We will always support the troops who are there. If the president wants to expand the mission, that's a conversation he has to have with the Congress of the US,” said House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.

The President is expected to announce his revised strategy for Iraq this week.

It has been widely reported that the plan will include sending thousands more soldiers to Iraq in an effort to boost security in Baghdad and beyond.

Senator Mitch McConnell, the top republican in the senate, didn't exactly let the cat out of the bag, “It would be to quiet Baghdad to get control of the capitol and we think he is going to announce that would require more both Iraqi and American troops,” he said.

McConnell says he supports the idea, and says he believes the President will get the funding for it.
