Ministers discuss Land Acquisition Act
An empowered group of ministers will meet in New Delhi for the first time on thursday to discuss and suggest amendments to the Land Acquisition Act and rehabilitation policy.
Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, heading the group said, “This group has been formed to suggest amendments to the Land Acquisition Act. It will not only cover issues arising out of land being acquired for special economic zones by private developers, but also problems faced while acquiring land for infrastructure projects, airport development, and industrial and township development.â€
The group including ministers of finance, rural development and urban development, and deputy chairman of the Planning Commission is expected to make a recommendation aimed at entitling people affected by projects to get their due share of benefits after a project is developed, or share profits as well.
Dera Sacha Sauda followers meet in Sirsa:
Followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda will meet in Sirsa on Thursday to work out how to counter what they say are attempts to terrorise them.
A local court on Wednesday issued non bailable warrants, returnable by July one, against the Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh who was charged with hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikhs through his blasphemous act of imitating Guru Gobind Singh and enacting the religious baptism ceremony of the Sikhs.
Duty Magistrate K L Kichi issued the warrants after the prosecution counsel pleaded that there was sufficient evidence against Ram Raheem.
The sect has asked its followers to be prepared for any eventuality and make any sacrifice. Tension is mounting in Sirsa after a clash broke out on wednesday between some Sikhs and Dera supporters.
