New Delhi: Pravin Mahajan, the man who shot BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan, is the youngest brother of the BJP leader.
He has been the most reclusive of the three Mahajan brothers, always preferring to be in the background, under the shadow of his more influential eldest brother.
Though Pramod Mahajan made it big in the political arena and became a Union cabinet minister, his siblings always keep a low profile.
In his late 40s, Pravin never participates in any of the family's get-togethers and is not very media savvy either.
He stays in Thane with wife Sarangi and his son and daughter, and was employed at the public relations department of a telecom major.
He was brought up by Pramod in Mumbai, where he completed his graduation in science.
Since Pravin was not well-off, the BJP leader had reportedly purchased an apartment for him in Naupada area of Thane 10 years ago.
He used to run a small construction business in Thane in Mumbai and was constantly supported by Pramod Mahajan in his ventures.
Pramod, who hails from Osmanabad district of Maharashtra, is the eldest of the five Mahajan siblings.
Prakash, his second brother is settled in Aurangabad, and Pravin is the youngest.
He also has two sisters - Pradnya, who is married to former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Gopinath Munde, and Pratibha.
In fact, Pramod has been a father figure to all his siblings and the incident has come as a shock to the family.
