Celina Jaitly is delighted with the box office response to Golmaal Returns and the appreciation she has been getting from all quarters for her portrayal of a comic South-Indian, Mira Nair.
In a candid chat, post release, she says, "When Rohit (Shetty) said that he wanted to present me in a different light I surrendered myself to his vision. Having viewed the film I can safely say that he has done complete justice to my role.
I've had a fabulous response from the audience and media alike, and the film has opened to a cent percent response the world over. I couldn't have asked for a better Diwali gift!"
Celina flew to Johannesburg for a commercial appearance shortly after the release of the film last week. "I haven't been in Mumbai to enjoy the success of the film.
I was responding to text messages till the aircraft hit the runway at Mumbai! Even after I landed in South Africa, I was replying to congratulatory messages or messages requesting me to organise cinema tickets!" she laughs.
"Golmaal Returns will always be special. I was battling a personal crisis during the shoot, as my brother (Vikrant Jaitly, in the Indian Army) had met with a serious accident and was hospitalised.
You can imagine how difficult it was for me to enact the comic sequences when half my mind was elsewhere. But as they say, all's well that ends well - Vikrant's fine and the film is a huge hit!" she smiles.
