Palode (Kerala): She's young, exotic and a good talker.
The two-year-old Karumbi, a crow that can actually crow about how good she is. Karumbi is Raji's pet and lives with her in Thiruvananthapuram.
“It was two years back during the rainy season I found her on the ground after her nest had come down. We treated her and wanted to release her, but she wont go in anyway. Now she has become an integral part of our lives,” says Raji.
So how does Karumbi manage to talk like any other human being does? The answer may lie in the fact that Karumbi spends all her time with Raji.
“It was quite surprising to find her talk because I have never seen a crow do that in my life. May be when I used to speak to her in Malayalam she picked up the words from there,” Raji says.
And if you pester her, you may get more than an earful of the Indian crow, which is perhaps a bird, many of us look down upon.
But Karumbi is a wonder crow who has mastered the art of human speech so much so that if you make a sequel to Dr Dolittle, this bird would undoubtedly find a role to play in it.
