New Delhi: The big question that everyone seems to be asking is — will Delhi hit the 0 degree mark on Friday?
While the BBC had predicted that the minimum temperature in the national Capital on Friday will be as low as the freezing point, the forecast from the website Weather Underground is one notch higher - one degree celsius.
However, the Met Department says Delhi won't hit zero.
"It is unlikely that the temperatures in Delhi will touch zero," said IMD Director B P Yadav.
Met officials say the expected minimum temperature is around 2 degrees Celsius. Temperatures however, are expected to remain between 3 - 4 degrees below normal for the next two days.
The Met Department has also forecast light showers over the Northern plains over the weekend which should help abate the cold wave.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s school-goers are rejoicing because the Delhi government has given them unexpected second winter break.
The government’s ruling is, however, applicable only to primary school children, which has seen junior school-kids pulling many a long face as they brave the winter chill in the mornings.
