St. Johns, Antigua: Jerome Taylor took a career-best four for 24 and paced the West Indies to a convincing 98-run victory over Zimbabwe on Sunday in their second One-Day International at the Antigua Recreation Ground.
The 21-year-old Taylor took three wickets in his first three overs as Zimbabwe, chasing a victory target of 243, was routed for 144 off 46.2 overs.
Justice Chibhabha top scored with a 67 for Zimbabwe, his second straight half century, but no one else could muster more than 16.
The West Indies reached a total of 242 for nine in their 50 overs, led by 55 from Ramnaresh Sarwan. Opener Chris Gayle hit 49 and former captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul compiled 46.
Pacer Tawanda Mupariwa took a career-best three for 46, including the wicket of captain Brian Lara for five.
Taylor, who earned his second straight Man of the Match, subdued Zimbabwe's chances by reducing the visitors to 11 for three before the completion of the sixth over.
Chibhabha dominated a restorative stand of 64 with Elton Chigumbura that helped revive the innings.
The 19-year-old Chibhabha, in only his third match, blasted eight boundaries off 100 balls before he was seventh out. The right-hander nicked a catch to the wicketkeeper off Ian Bradshaw.
The West Indies sealed the victory and took a 2-0 lead in the seven-match series.
Earlier, Sarwan struck three fours and two sixes off 61 balls to spearhead an unconvincing West Indies batting effort.
Sarwan, who passed 3,000 one-day runs when he reached 48, perished soon after reaching his fifty. The right-hander hoisted Mupariwa to the deep square leg boundary.
