Mumbai: Among the interesting mix of this week's Friday fare at the box office is Maharathi actor Paresh Rawal's first outing as a producer. Based on a popular Gujrati play.
Maharathi is a thriller around a well-laid-out murder plan which goes all wrong.
The film's cast with Naseerudin Shah, Om Puri, Paresh Rawal and Boman Irani reads out like the list of some of the finest actors from the Hindi film industry and among these seasoned actors you also have Neha Dhupia to add to the Oomph factor.
"My character in one word is a gold-digger," says she.
The actors say that moments off-screen were as thrilling as those once the camera turned on.
"Lunch time would be fun. We would talk about evrything except for acting," says Boman Irani.
The grapevine has it that Naseeruddin Shah's character in the film was first to be played by the Big B. However, Neha Dhupia says, "With all due respect to Mr Bachchan, I can't imagine anyone else playing that role now that Naseeruddin Shah has done such a brilliant job of it. It's like asking who could have played Forrest Gump better and you would still say Tom Hanks."
This low budget film's biggest strength is no doubt the taltented star cast. Here's hoping that the film lives up to its name at the box office.
