WLIFW: Satin sisters, king of drapes rule Day 2

New Delhi: The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion week kicked off on Wednesday with designer duo Gauri and Nainika showcasing their chic line.

The ladies stuck to their signature style that was all about glamour of the 1930s and flowing silhouettes with some pencil cuts.

From nudes, to shocking greens and juicy oranges, the colours were varied and often vibrant. Add to that satins with prints. It showed the designer duo certainly know their gowns and cut a fine figure out of it.

“It was very well put together and the kind of clothes they do, they do it very nicely,” said designer Ritu Kumar.

And like them, designer Tarun Tahiliani, too, stuck to his signature style at the Delhi fashion week on Wednesday.

Elegant drapes and cuts coupled with basic whites, creams and beiges on flowing chiffons and gorgettes were his style. Bandhini (Rajasthani print) was perhaps the only exception from his usual designs...

“I loved it, beautiful! It's the first time he's done his drapes with our embroidery, something which is very difficult to do,” said designer Malini Ramani.

But Tahiliani did tone down on the embellishments and embroidery in tune to his theme ‘negativity can't fuel creativity’.

“The idea is to be economically relevant. There’s no point in doing a collection that's Rs 75,000-plus and people think twice before buying it,” he said.
