Woman alerts Mumbai cops about bomb threat

CNN-IBN

Mumbai: Security has been stepped up across railway stations in Mumbai after a woman complained to the police that she overheard some men talking about targeting railway stations.

While the police have confirmed the reports, they are still in the process of verifying the details.

A team of police officials carried out checks at four suburban railway stations- Kanurmarg, Panvel, Dockyard Road and astMahalaxmi.

"The woman got down at the Bandra railway station immediately and informed the railway police about it," a senior government railway police official was quoted as saying by PTI.

Mumbai Police say there is a possibility that the woman may be overreacting but at the same time they are not taking any chances.

This security threat comes immediately after discovery of explosives in Navi Mumbai and a blast in Thane on Wednesday.

There is a heightened threat perception in the city after the July 2006 serial train blasts.
