Hospital refuses admission, woman loses twins

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: A woman on Friday afternoon lost her twins after she was forced to deliver them on a sidewalk outside a Delhi hospital.

She alleges Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital refused to admit her because they wanted to register her first.

The hospital authorities, however, insist that the babies were premature and that it was the woman who was unwilling to be admitted.

The woman is now in the hospital and is being given post-natal care. The hospital took her in after they learnt about death of her first child. Her second child died soon after being admitted into the hospital.

The police have not conducted any enquiry into the matter yet.

The report just comes a day after a woman died outside a Kanpur hospital, after she delivered a stillborn on the road.

She, too, was denied admission to the hospital apparently because she didn't have money to make an advance payment.
