Mumbai: The Indian Women's cricket team has left for a six week tour to England on Monday evening.
The team will play two Tests, five One-Dayers as well as their first ever Twenty20 match on the tour.
But unlike previous occasions when the girls used to complain of being ignored by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, now things are a bit different.
The BCCI logo has been finally etched on to the blazers of the Indian women's cricket team and a long cherished dream has finally come true for the young sportswomen.
Playing for the first time under the official endorsement of the BCCI, they are on their way to England where they will get a chance to play at the Lord's for the first time.
"It is really nice now that we have the BCCI logo and there has been a lot of publicity, Hopefully more sponsors will now come forward. It is a big move for us. There is a lot of money if BCCI is involved. But we should also get better infrastructure and facilities," captain Mithali Raj says.
The merger with of the women's cricket board with the BCCI means financial benefits, better grounds, media support and maybe more sponsorship.
"It is the dream of a cricketer to play in England. We will do our best," a member of the team Nausheen Al Khadeer says.
The young women will play in England and Ireland on the tour and their first match is on Saturday with the first of two One-Dayers against Ireland.
The series is their second in less than eight months against England and they will also play a Twenty20 match.
