Shri Rajasthani Jain Samaj (Mambalam) organised a Cancer Awareness Programme here on September 23. The medical test for ladies were conducted between 8 am to 6 pm on the premises of the Samaj at Thyagaraya Road, T Nagar. As many as 278 women from in and around the area showed up at the health check up programme.
The programme aimed at assessing the general health status of women in the city. It emphasised the importance of a routine health checkup.
A few of the tests included in the camp were Blood test-Haemoglobin, TSH and random sugar level, Pap smear (screening test for cervical cancer), transvaginal ultrasound, and breast examination among others. The tests performed in the camp were beneficial. More than detecting diseases and health conditions, it helped create awareness about the most common health problems and how they can be prevented.
