New Delhi: World No. 1 golfer Tiger Woods took a three-stroke lead with a score of seven-under par 203 after round three of the US PGA Championship.

The American is now the favourite to claim back-to-back titles after once being under the threat of going without a title in a year for the first time in his career.

Canada's Stephen Ames is behind Woods after reaching four under.

Three-time major champion Ernie Els showed more encouraging signs of a return to form following some lean years with a round of 69.

World No. 3 Phil Mickelson's woes continued as he slumped to a five-over 75 from seven over.
