Worli-Bandra sea link secures Cong-NCP alliance

New Delhi: Mumbai's new sea link inaugurated on Tuesday also turned into a bridge over the troubled waters of the Congress-NCP alliance.

The alliance has been rocky ever since the results of the general election. The party's state leadership taking the cue from Rahul Gandhi's strategy in Uttar Pradesh to fight the election alone.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar too had flirted with others in the lead up to the general electon, particularly with the third front and even nominating his own name for prime minister

but the dramatic, even unexpected, Lok Sabha results changed that game.

On Tuesday, Pawar himself said the new Bandra-Worli sea link be named after Rajiv Gandhi, a clear signal to Sonia Gandhi that he was ready, willing and waiting for the alliance to continue in Maharastra.

The Congress too, as CNN-IBN had first reported on Monday, had made up its mind to continue the alliance – though, sources say, Sonia Gandhi will demand a larger number of seats and hope for a win as spectacular as the inauguration of Mumbai's newest toy.
