New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that she would not hesitate from backing even arch-rival CPM if it introduced the no-confidence motion in Parliament. "We have no ego issues. Even if the CPI(M) moves a no-confidence motion, we will support it. This is why we are appealing all parties to think hard about whether they want UPA-II to continue. If Congress can speak to the BJP, then even the TMC can speak to anyone from the Left," Mamata said.
With just two days left for Parliament's winter session to begin, the Opposition is in brainstorming mode. Earlier in the day, the BJP held a party meet during which its stand on the trust vote was decided. However, party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the stand would be conveyed only after the NDA meeting later in the evening on Tuesday.
Sources say that the BJP is more keen on seeking a discussion and voting on FDI under Rule 184, and may also reach out to the TMC for support in order to maintain a united Opposition attack.
The AIADMK too is meeting on Tuesday to finalise its decision. Sources say party chief Jayalalithaa is likely to support the move. But government sources say it is not worried as it is assured of "300 votes".
