New Delhi: Ramesh Kumar won the bronze medal in the 74kg category at the World Wrestling Championship in Herning, Denmark on Wednesday. It was India's first medal after 32 years at the World Wrestling Championship.
The 27-year-old wrestler trounced Dustin Schalatter of the America 3-2 and then went on to beat UK's Michael Grundy 4-2.
In the quarter-finals Kumar easily overcame Bulagaria's Kiri Terziev 7-4 but lost the semi-final bout to Chamsulvarayev of Azerbaizan 0-3.
Earlier, Olympic bronze medalist Sushil Kumar had missed a medal in the 66kg freestyle category after losing to his Japanese opponent Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu 0-5.
