Wyoming caucus votes for Barack Obama

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: US presidential hopefuls Barack Obama beat fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton in the Wyoming caucus on Saturday.

CNN projections show Obama has won over Hillary Clinton by a wide margin – 59 to 41 per cent.

"This is a very important win for us," said Obama’s campaign manager, David Plouffe, to reporters.

Only 12 delegates are at stake in Wyoming but this win may be some consolation for Obama who lost the Ohio and Texas primaries on Tuesday to Hillary. Prior to that, Obama had had a series of 12 wins.

Despite Hillary’s victories in the delegate-rich states, Obama maintains his lead in the number of delegates that have pledged their support for him.

Hillary’s husband, former president Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea had been actively involved in campaigning in the sparsely-populated state.

Tuesday will see Obama and Hillary facing off in Mississippi. The more important battle is slated for April 22 in Pennsylvania.
