Thiruvananthapuram: Come Christmas and Kerala resounds with jingles. And they are no longer just Christmas carols, they are also spreading the message of peace.

Live Jam, an NGO which spreads social awareness through music, has organised a road show across the state to campaign against terror. Bonny Andrew, who leads band, says music is playing healer here.

"We believe that music is such a powerful tool and while we play music we make sure that all the songs we play tonight and in the tour are very meaningful and clean lyrics that evoke emotions, evoke the message of peace and unity and also bring in healing because of the devotional content that's carried in it," he adds.

Live jam will perform at Malls and parks in various cities. At every concert there will be a candle light ceremony to pay tribute to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attack.

For Malayalis it's perhaps a new Christmas experience, something they have never felt before. Carols, cakes and stars were getting a new meaning in God's own country.

Says a resident of Kerala, Sandhya, "This time I feel Christams is more about giving, spreading the message of peace and love, that's the real meaning of Christmas, that's why Jesus came to Earth. And at these bands' performances we understand the meaning of giving."

And talking of giving, anyone in the crowd is welcome to lend their voice to these carols.

Live Jam and Thiruvananthapuram wants to make a tall statement : that Christmas this time round is not about cakes and wines, but perhaps a moment to remember all those people who laid down their lives for us to live.
