A youth on Saturday axed his father to death in a fit of rage after he saw him allegedly slapping his mother in Hazaribagh, police said on Saturday.

48-year-old Parameshwar Mahato was attacked allegedly by his 20-year-old son Mukesh Kumar last night.

Kumar's mother raised alarm after watching her son washing the blood-soaked axe and the neighbours caught and handed over the accused to the police.

Kumar told police that his angry reaction came after seeing his father allegedly slapping his mother for not setting up cattle shed in the premises of their house, officer-in-charge of Mufassil police station Arvind Kumar Singh told reporters.

He was sent to 14 days judicial remand by the Chief Judicial Magistrate court.
