Zardari was also asked by the investigators to answer a few questions after consulting his party –the PPP.
"Today, I came to meet Scotland Yard because the team had no clearance to visit me in Nau Dero. I thought it essential to come and join investigation process so that I could explain and reiterate the stance of the party. Therefore, we and other friends from People's Party met them. We gave them some evidence. They too have some questions. We will answer those questions after consulting the party and provide them with more evidence," Zardari said, after the meeting.
The meeting was held privately at the office of deputy British High Commissioner.
According to some reports, the investigators have reportedly concluded that al Qaeda was behind Benazir’s assassination on December 27 because she supported the US-led campaign against Islamist militancy.
Zardari and the PPP have, on the other hand, have always said they suspect the government to be behind Benazir’s assassination and have more than once called for a UN probe into the matter.
