Beijing: Zhang Xiangxiang of China won the men's 62kg weightlifting gold medal at the Beijing Olympics on Monday.
The Sydney Olympics bronze medallist claimed the title with a 169kg first lift in the clean and jerk, which he improved on with a 176kg second heave for a total of 319kg.
Zhang failed to beat the 182kg world record of compatriot Le Maosheng when missing a final 184kg clean and jerk effort.
Diego Salazar won Colombia's first medal of the Games as he took silver while Triyatno of Indonesia lifted the bronze.
