
New Delhi: The future of thousands of students in the country is at stake. As many as 300 institutes in the country, around 50 of which are in Delhi, have been blacklisted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). In some colleges, students said that after six months of admission they got to know that their course wasn't recognised by AICTE. The institutes provide technical courses like MBA, MCA, MTech without the council's approval. So what does it means for the students?
"This degree doesn't hold any value, you can't use it to go abroad, it's worthless," Education expert Mahesh Sharma said. The AICTE clearly says that no institute shall provide technical courses without the council's approval. "We will act against those providing unapproved courses," AICTE Chairman SS Khare said.
Located in the crowded Lakshmi Nagar area, in a dingy lane, a private college has been named in AICTE's list as providing technical courses without its approval. The students who CNN-IBN spoke to refused to come on camera but did admit that they were worried about their future.
Companies also shy away from hiring students from unapproved institutions. Even if the council provides approval to an institute later, students admitted before lose all rights to admission. So the students must conduct a thorough research of the program before enrolling for these courses....
