
Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Tuesday posted January 16 as the next date of hearing into alleged irregularities into matter of Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust run by Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid. The date was fixed by a bench of Justice Uma Nath Singh and Justice Satish Chandra on a PIL filed by social activist Nutan Thakur.
On October 18, the high court had issued a notice to a television news channel directing it to produce all the documents relating to the matter of Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust on the basis of which a PIL was filed. The PIL sought a direction for lodging of an FIR and also monitoring by the court in the case relating to the trust.
The petitioner in her PIL prayed the court to direct the Principal Secretary (Home) of Uttar Pradesh government and Economic Offences Wing to immediately lodge an FIR on the basis of primary investigation report conducted by Viklang Kalyan department and Social Welfare Department in pursuance of Ministry of Social Justice as sent to EOW by the state and to investigate the matter in accordance with law.
It was also prayed that the court monitor the investigation. Six parties, including state government, EOW, central government, Principal Secretary (Social Welfare) UP, Aaj Tak and Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust, were made respondents in the PIL.
