Nandamuri Balakrishna, it is difficult to believe, is over 50. He becomes a year older but for his fans and admirers, he remains the ever-so-energetic Yuvaratna. In 'Adhinayakudu', he not only looked younger but also seemed all the more dignified in the role of Harischandra Prasad and dauntless in that of Ram Prasad. That is Balayya babu, as he is fondly called, for you.
After a decade of unpleasant flops, he roared back as 'Simha'. His Lord Rama act in 'Sri Rama Rajyam' needs no description. "Balakrishna is top notch in showing the anguish of a husband, who is having to banish his wife to the forests. The confusion and the trauma portrayed by the accomplished actor looks every bit first rate," our review of the film said.
Like Nagarjuna and Venkatesh, Balakrishna is consciously trying to offer variety. He is one actor who is acting in two films of different genres. 'Aditya 999', a (presumably) sci-fi film, and 'Srimannarayana', where he is playing an intrepid journalist for the first time in his career. As someone who wants to make it big in politics, Balayya is sure to make well-meaning films of social relevance and political overtones in the coming years.

Paruchuri Murali is happy that Adhinayakudu is being described as a family drama. When he wanted to make a film with Balakrishna, he ventured out with the endeavour of presenting him in three different shades. "The character of Harischandra Prasad reminds one of Vivekananda. That's how much idea he is. Balakrishna's performance is being highly appreciated. We have not criticised anyone in the film. Adhinayakudu has nothing to do with...

Nandamuri Balakrishna may have indicated that 'Adhinayakudu' is his political statement but Paruchuri Murali claims that the dialogue with alleged political overtones was demanded by the script. Speaking to a national daily on the controversial dialogue which has put the film in the centre of a controversy, the director said that the dialogue was "perfectly demanded by the screenplay in an emotional scene and delivered by a character who was...

'Adhinayakudu' is more a family drama than a political pot-boiler. Minus hyperbole, ridiculous stunts and over-the-top melodrama, 'Adhinayakudu' is watchable once, with the proceedings pepped up by a resurgent Balakrishna. Speaking of its other side, the film could have done better with a more interesting plot and less confusion. Paruchuri Murali has written good dialogues, but there is nothing to carry home for the fans out there. Some of the...

Ever since Balakrishna, a member of the Telugu Desam Party, openly announced that his campaign in the run-up to the June 12 by-polls would be through his film, it was anticipated that 'Adhinayakudu' will sooner or later land in trouble. The date has been advanced, however, by a complaint registered by a YSR Congress Party member with the Election Commission. The member of the said party took exception to a...

Even as the experiment which Balakrishna has admittedly accomplished in 'Adhinayakudu' is yet to be seen on the big screen, we bring you an interesting fact about 'Adithya-999', touted to be a sequel to 'Adithya-369'. The film, to be directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, will go on the floors from June 10. However, the names of the three heroines with whom the actor is going to romance have not been...

The release date of 'Adhinayakudu' has been fixed as June 1. Languishing for half-an-year now, the film had till recently seen no glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. So, Balayya's fans must brace up to receive the Yuva Ratna with full josh. That the film's climax scenes are tinged with political colours should make 'Adhinayakudu' all the more important. Much like NTR, who made a political statement...

The second half of May is going to be very entertaining. Barring Gabbar Singh, there has been no big release in the first half, though it could not have been the case had not at least two big releases been pending. If the industry grapevine is to be believed, ML Kumar Chowdhary is all set to release Adhinayakudu on the last day of this month. Some negotiations have been worked...
