
Munabao: The Centre bent the rules for a Rajasthan minister, allowing him to board the train to Pakistan from Munabao station, which is used only for security checks and no boarding is allowed as per norms.
Rajasthan Minister of state for minorities Amin Khan, who was dropped from the Gehlot cabinet for his remarks against President Pratibha Patil, now courts a new controversy. A month after being re-inducted as minister, Khan used his clout in the Union Home Ministry to board Thar Express from the border railway station of Munabao in Barmer instead of Jodhpur.
Since the train resumed plying in 2006, residents of Barmer and Jaisalmer have been demanding that they be allowed to board from Munabao. But the government has refused citing security reasons. Sources in the Union Home Ministry have confirmed to CNN-IBN that special permission was granted to the minister and his seven relatives to board the train from Munabao instead of Jodhpur. The Opposition is now up in arms, wanting to know why were rules bent for the minister.
Not just the Opposition but also the residents of Barmer now want the government to come clean on why it bent its own rules for the minister and his family....
