New Delhi: Jagmohan Dalmiya, who returned to the BCCI corridors of power on Sunday by taking over the duties of the cricketing body's president, will also handle the duties of the treasurer and the secretary, sources said on Monday. The two posts were vacated by Ajay Shirke and Sanjay Jagdale, who rejected the requests of BCCI board members to come back and are unlikely to return.
In effect, Dalmiya will enjoy all the powers of the president. N Srinivasan agreed to step aside on Sunday from the his post but refused to discharge his duties till the probe into the IPL betting and spot-fixing scandal is over.
Probe panel could be formed this week and replacements of Jagdale and Shirke have to be found, BCCI sources added.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police on Monday said it will speak to Jagdale to "understand BCCI's role in the agreement between IPL team Rajasthan Royals and the accused cricketers". Jagdale, along with IPL CEO Sundar Raman, had a meeting with Delhi Police for two hours....more
