
New Delhi: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik, who is on a visit to India, on Saturday went for damage control, saying he was not trying to equate the Babri Masjid demolition with the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks during his interaction with mediapersons after his arrival in New Delhi.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, the Pakistan minister pointed that he had also brought up Shia-Sunni issues in Pakistan as well as the 9/11 attacks, and had no intention to equate 26/11 with the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya.
Malik further said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had told him that he could visit Pakistan only after concrete action was taken in connection with the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks by the neighbouring country. According to Malik, the Prime Minister admitted that the public opinion in India was such that he could not visit Pakistan until concrete action was taken over the 26/11 trial.
The Pakistan Interior Minister also talked about the controversy over what he told the Indian media on Friday about the death of Captain Saurabh Kalia in Kargil. The Pakistan minister said he wasn't insulting Captain Kalia by saying he didn't know if he was killed by a bullet or inclement weather....
