Kanpur: Rahul shown black flags during road show Kanpur: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Monday invited the Election Commission's wrath by not taking up the route it had prescribed to the leader for his road campaign in Kanpur. Kanpur District Magistrate Hari Om said that Rahul stuck to his route, despite having been assigned an alternative route by the EC.

"We had allotted a separate route for Rahul's roadshow considering he would have faced traffic," the official said. "The route of the road show would have ended in a traffic jam. We had given them an alternate route. It was for the safety of Rahul Gandhi as well. But he did follow our orders and carried on his road show. This is violation of rules. We will see what action needs to be taken. We may take action against Rahul Gandhi as well."

Sources say Rahul may be accused of violating the model code of conduct.

Meanwhile, Rahul was shown black flags by a few supporters of the Ulema Council who were protesting against the Batla house encounter. Some even threw flags at the Congress leader as he waved out at the crowds....more
