
Wichita: Rahil Gangjee nearly put himself out of the tournament with three bogeys in a row on the front nine but made a stunning comeback over the last 10 holes to squeeze inside the cut line at the Wichita Open, here.
Gangjee carded one-under 70 with the help of four birdies on the back-nine and at four-under 138, he was placed tied 56. He just made the cut, which came at four-under 138.
Gangjee, whose 68 gave him tied 31st place in the first round, bogeyed the fourth, fifth and sixth, but a birdie on ninth saw him gain confidence at the turn. He then birdied the 11th, 14th and 18th, the last one being the real life-saver as he extended his stay for the week.
Jim Herman, who missed the cut at last week's US Open added a 64 to the first round 66 to take lead in the tournament at the Crestview Country Club....
