Georgetown: The head of the West Indies Cricket Board will meet with Guyana President Bharrat Jagdeo on Tuesday to express his concerns about a government takeover of national cricket affairs.
Jagdeo's government has appointed Sports Minister Frank Anthony as head of an interim committee to run Guyana cricket following a weekend high court ruling that effectively asked authorities to intervene to reorganize the sport. The move follows several legal battles to decide which of several bodies should be considered the legitimate one to govern national cricket operations.
But WICB rules prevent governments from being in charge of cricket, and its head Julian Hunte has asked for a formal meeting with Jagdeo to discuss the issue.
