Bihar: Conjoined twins' family welcomes SC verdict Patna: The Supreme Court's order has come as a huge relief for the parents of the conjoined twins, who are now being taken care by Patna's leading hospital. Following the Supreme Court's order that the Bihar government should take the full responsibility of the conjoined twins' medical treatment, the hospital has been looking after the sisters.

The apex court has also asked the state government to pay Rs 5,000 per month to the conjoined twins' family for regular medical checkups of the sisters. "We are happy with Supreme Court's order. We don't have enough money to bear their (conjoined twins) medical expenses," said the twins' brother Jawed.

Seventeen-year-old Saba and Farah, conjoined at the head, are among seven children of tea stall owner Mohammad Shakeel Ahmad. Their story got national and international attention when in 2011, Mohammad Shakeel pleaded mercy killing for the twins. Following that, Abu Dhabi's crown prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed offered to pay for their operation. And hopefully now, with the efforts of Udhyan hospital, their misery will be over soon.
