
New Delhi: An inmate at the high security Tihar prison died and five sustained injuries on Friday following a violent clash between two groups.
Sources said Javed, a resident of Seelumpur, succumbed to injuries at around 4 pm on Friday. His body has been sent for postmortem but prima facie it appears that he was attacked with improvised knife. This is the third unnatural death in 2013 in India's most high profile prison. A judicial probe has now been ordered.
Just two months back Ram Singh, the main accused in the December 16 gangrape case committed suicide inside his prison cell. Days later a female under trial hung herself in her cell. Friday's incident happened despite security being increased.
