
Nagpur: Police have booked Maharashtra's Director General of Police Sanjeev Dayal and senior officials of the government under a special Act following a complaint lodged against them by a top prison official for allegedly delaying his promotion.
The officials were booked on Tuesday under the provisions of Prevention of Atrocities Act against Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, police said on Wednesday.
Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (Eastern Region), Shashikant Shinde, who was promoted in 2010 to the present post, had filed a complaint with Dhantoli Police in Nagpur recently against the officers, including Principal Home Secretary Kailash Bilonkar, the then Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Umesh Sarangi and Mantralaya official RM Deshmukh.
As police did not initiate any action, he moved the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) presided over by AH Kashikar who asked the cops to register offences against the DGP and other respondents after ordering a probe. ...
