
Perambalur: Former DMK MLA M Rajkumar surrendered before the Perambalur police on Thursday night in connection with the mysterious death of a 15-year-old girl from Kerala, who was employed in his house here. The police had earlier registered a case in this connection and named the MLA as the first accused.
According to sources, C Sathya (15), daughter of Chandran and Suseela of Peermedu in Idukki district of Kerala, was sent for work at Rajkumars house in Perambalur on June 23. On June 28, Sathya is said to have contacted Chandran and told him that she did not want to work in the former MLAs house anymore.
Meanwhile, on June 29, Chandran received a call from Perambalur informing him that Sathya was not well and had been admitted to a private hospital in Perambalur and later shifted to another private hospital in Tiruchy. Since her parents could not afford to get her treated in a private hospital, they shifted her to the Theni Government Medical College Hospital on July 4.
However, Sathya died on July 6 at the hospital. The body was handed over to her parents on July 7 and brought to Idukki. It is said that her relatives noticed injuries on the body and alleged that she could have undergone physical harassment at the MLAs house....
