Delhi Police short of 2,500 lady officers New Delhi: Against the backdrop of rising crimes against women, some startling facts have emerged. There's a shortfall of 2,500 lady officers in the Delhi Police. With less than ideal working conditions, even serving women officers are struggling to make a difference.



"I leave every morning at 8. I never know when my day is going to end," said a Maya, a lady officer in the Delhi Police. The lady in khaki, the helping hand for female victims of crime, is in fact overworked, underpaid and not treated as an equal by her male colleagues.
