Gurkeerat Singh ecstatic to get runs from Yuvraj's bat When Gurkeerat Singh came in to bat for Kings XI Punjab against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, there were just five overs to go and Sunil Narine and Jacques Kallis were bowling at their best, but the 22-year-old batsman not only provided the late impetus to their innings but also helped them to post a decent 149, which at one point looked out of their reach.

Gurkeerat although was upset that his side lost the contest but was ecstatic that he chipped in with a useful score. "I came [in] to bat when there were just five overs left. I started the innings trying to get my eye in. But once I was set, there was no looking back," Gurkeerat told IPLT20.com after the match.

"In the last over as well, you have no option but to hit out. I had confidence in me to go for my shots and I was sure they would come off well. I knew this was the over to cash in, because in the previous over Sunil Narine gave away just two. We had no options but to attack L Balaji and I was glad we could get 18 off him in the end," he added.

The young middle order batsman also happy from the fact that the bat given by his favourite cricketer Yuvraj Singh came in handy on Friday. "I admire Yuvraj Singh. He is my favorite player. He speaks a lot to me about my game. In
