
New Delhi: BCCI chief N Srinivasan's grip over Indian cricket is fast slipping away and while he is refusing to resign, his detractors in the Board are plotting his removal. Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was sent to police custody till May 29 on Saturday in connection with the IPL betting case.
BCCI's top brass leaders met on Saturday evening in Kolkata ahead of the big IPL final. The dinner hosted was hosted by Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Jagmohan Dalmiya.
Srinivasan, along with IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla, were present. BCCI Vice-President Arun Jaitley and joint secretary Anurag Thakur did not attend the dinner.
Even as Srinivasan remained defiant and refused to quit, the police said they wanted to probe if his son-in-law was passing on team strategy to bookies to facilitate bets and if two phones used by him had SIM cards obtained by forging documents and whether he was placing bets upto Rs one crore through actor Vindoo Dara Singh, who has also been arrested....
