Honour killing: UP CM to act against DIG New Delhi: A day after Saharanpur range DIG Satish Kumar Mathur sparked a controversy by advocating honour killing, the Uttar Pradesh government has promised action.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said he would take action against Mathur if the police officer had supported honour killing. "If that is the statement then that statement is wrong. If an official holds such high post and if that person makes such statements, actions will be taken against him," Yadav said.

Mathur was caught on camera saying that if his own sister eloped he would kill her or commit suicide. Mathur made this shocking statement when he was inspecting police stations and met a man whose daughter had allegedly run away.

"This is a matter of great shame," this was the reply of Mathur when a man went for help to find out his missing daughter....more

Looking into DIG advocating honour killings: Police New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order, Crime) Jagmohan Yadav said on Wednesday that he would look into the statements made by Saharanpur Range DIG Satish Kumar Mathur justifying honour killing.
