'Challenge Cong hegemony among BJP's achievement' Madurai: Comparing building a party to a battle field involving two armies, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani on Thursday said challenging the Congress' hegemony was one of the party's biggest achievements.

Tracing the journey of BJP from the Jan Sangh days, he said it had become one of the top two recognised political parties in the country ensuring a bi-polar polity.

"This was not a casual achievement but the result of systematic planning by leaders and cadre," he told the two-day state conference of Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP in Madurai.
