Pipli rape: Govt told to file response by Sep 7 Cuttack: The Justice PK Mohanty Commission probing the Pipli rape case has asked the Odisha government to submit its reply by the next hearing scheduled on September 7, explaining cause of delay in cremation of the victim.

The state government is yet to file its counter on the controversial case after Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner Sunil Kumar Ray had earlier filed his replies in a sealed cover.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Saturday received at least nine more affidavits from as many witnesses, taking the total number of affidavits received by the commission till date to 59.

Among the persons who submitted their written response included Pipli SDPO Rajendra Rout, investigating officer (IO) RC Sethy, a crime branch DSP and the three doctors of Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, who had first examined the teenage Dalit victim to ascertain whether she was raped or not....more
