Narendra Modi's elevation a threat to secularism: Chennithala Thiruvananthapuram: Bharatiya Janata Party's decision to elevate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as head of the party's campaign committee for the Lok Sabha polls posed a "challenge to secularism and democracy," Kerala PCC president Ramesh Chennithala said today.

Attacking Modi's style of functioning, the Congress leader called for strengthening unity of democratic and secular forces to thwart the challenge posed by BJP under Modi's leadership.

"Modi's style of functioning went against secular and democratic ethos of the nation. His style is that of an autocrat. It is vital to strengthen the unity of democratic and secular forces to the threat posed by this development," Chennithala told reporters.

He said despite both L K Advani and Modi being "two sides of the same coin", even Advani was finding it difficult to accept Modi....more
