Pakistan: Imran Khan discharged from hospital Lahore: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was on Wednesday discharged from hospital, two weeks after he fractured his spine when he fell from a fork-lift during an election rally in this eastern Pakistani city. The cricketer-turned-politician left the Shaukat Khanum Hospital, where he was admitted after his accident on May 7, and went to his residence at Zaman Park in Lahore.

He will leave for Islamabad after three to four days, officials of his party said. Khan was fitted with a special spinal brace so that he can stand upright without aid and walk. He walked for the first time after the accident on Tuesday and did not complain of any pain while covering over 300 meters.

He is likely to regain his full functional capacity in six to eight weeks, aides said. Footage on television showed Khan, wearing a white shalwar-kameez, being fitted with the collar in his hospital room.

He combed his hair and walked out of the third-floor room without help. The footage showed him walking slowly and stiffly. A series of X-rays confirmed the continued healing of his spine and "excellent alignment" of his backbone, doctors said....more
