Coalgate: 'PM ignored note by Law Ministry' New Delhi: A Law Ministry note in 2006 had sought changes in the Mines Act to provide for competitive bidding for coal blocks, a report has revealed.

The Opposition has once again trained its guns on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking why did he ignore the note and not act on it.

The Law Ministry note further suggested that amendments be made as soon as possible in the Mines and Minerals Act.

The Prime Minister has been at the centre of the coal blocks allocations controversy with the Comptroller Auditor General of India (CAG) pointing a finger at him for the allocations made during his tenure as the Coal Minister....more
