Army chief accepts Lt Gen Suhag's explanation New Delhi: New Army chief General Bikram Singh has accepted the explanation of Lt General Dalbir Singh Suhag on the discipline and vigilance ban served on him by former Army chief General V K Singh, said sources.

The case now goes on to the Ministry of Defence and the Cabinet for final clearance, which once given, will pave the way for the promotion of Lt General Suhag.

Lt General Suhag, who could lead the force in two years, was served a show-cause notice by former Army chief General V K Singh for censure on account of lapses in handling a failed intelligence operation in Assam in 2011.

General Singh had also put Lt General Suhag under discipline and vigilance ban meaning that he could not be promoted....more
