HC sentences CPI-M leader contempt of court Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday sentenced CPI(M) leader MV Jayarajan to six months imprisonment on charge of committing contempt of court by making derogatory remarks against judges and the judiciary.

A division bench comprising justices V Ram Kumar and PQ Barkat Ali passed the order after launching suo motu contempt proceedings against Jayarajan, a former MLA.

Jayarajan, who was present in court, made an application to suspend the sentence, which was turned down by the court finding him guilty of criminal contempt.
